Residency Match Day support offered by BeWell
Let’s be honest, the journey leading up to Match Day is a long, grueling process. You have spent LOTS of time and energy building your medical school narrative – passing block and comprehensive exams, constantly pivoting in each clinical rotation – all the while finding the time to interview and lean into other identities that are important to you. Wait, you have other identities besides being a medical school student?
With Match Day quickly approaching, you are likely feeling waves of mixed emotions. That’s normal and understandable! You might be experiencing increased stress, anxiety, panic, anticipation and excitement, or maybe you are feeling numb to the entire process. It is important to remember you are not alone. Sometimes letting others in on how you feel, whether that is a loved one, friend, peer, mentor or even a counselor, can be extremely helpful in stressful situations.
To help make this process less stressful the BeWell team would like to offer some support the week before Match Week. Join us for a virtual support space for medical students to meet with your peers and a BeWell counselor to help process the ups and downs of the match process. We will meet on Thursday, March 10, at 5 p.m. Sign up to join us on Zoom.
If you’d prefer an individual appointment, the BeWell office will be available before, during and after Match Week (including over spring break) and holding extra individual appointments for those students who need additional support.
Students can request an appointment online or get a hold of us directly. Our contact information is on our website.
If you or another WVU student are in crisis and need urgent counseling, please call WVU’s Carruth Center at 304-293-4431. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
