Opportunity for Students: Community Service Hours
The purpose of the WVCEH Point-in-Time (PIT Count) is to obtain a snapshot census of people experiencing homelessness in your community on one night in January.
Volunteers are needed to collect data on the needs of people experiencing homelessness in our community. The count also provides an excellent opportunity to increase awareness of homelessness and to spark action. A successful and accurate count is an essential component to informing our regional response and to ultimately make homelessness rare, brief, and a one-time occurrence.
What to expect:
Volunteers will conduct surveys of people experiencing homelessness to connect them to services to resolve their housing crisis.
Completion of training is required for all volunteers. The training includes information on how to engage vulnerable populations, basic information about the "Every Person Counts" campaign, and how to complete surveys via a mobile app.
