Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology students awarded at the 2021 Autumn Immunology Conference

The 49th annual Autumn Immunology Conference was held Nov. 19 to 22 in Chicago, Illinois. This annual meeting features conference sessions presented by immunologists, as well as has several award opportunities for students and trainees to present their latest findings in both workshop and poster formats.

Immunology and microbial pathogenesis Ph.D. student Sara Druffner was the recipient of the AAI Young Investigator Award with her presentation titled, "Glucocorticoid regulation of gastric inflammation and metaplasia." The AAI Young Investigator Award is awarded to the first author of the top abstract in each workshop category.

Immunology and medical microbiology undergraduate student, Emily Lecea was the recipient of both the AAI Undergraduate Award for her abstract and the Outstanding Poster Award. The AAI Undergraduate Award winners are selected based on the scientific content of submitted abstracts. IMMB undergraduate student, Maeve Morris also took home an Outstanding Poster Award.
