Scheduling Delay: HSC computer migrations
UPDATE (2/28/23):
Due to an unforeseen issue, the migration schedule initially planned for March 1-27 for onsite Windows computers has been temporarily delayed. HSC ITS will contact your departmental computer support contact directly with your new migration date for your onsite computer.
HSC VPN users should continue to follow the directions to migrate your remote Windows computers now through March 27.

ORIGINAL (2/21/23):
As part of the continuing project to rebuild the HSC Active Directory, HSC ITS will be working on all WVU-owned and -managed Windows laptop and desktop computers on the Morgantown and Charleston campuses as well as some computers on the Eastern campus between March 1 and March 27. This work will be done in the evenings to minimize disruption according to the schedule in this FAQ.
This work won’t affect Linux devices, tablets, phones or Mac users. The migration schedule is also posted at the end of this message.
Please note the following:
- HSC on-campus computers:
- Make sure all data is saved on your computer at the end of the business day your unit is being moved.
- Leave your computer powered on and connected to the HSC network on your designated upgrade day.
- Research computers: If you have a computer that cannot be rebooted at midnight on your scheduled upgrade day, please contact the HSC Help Desk to coordinate a better migration date.
- HSC VPN users: If you access WVU resources using HSC VPN software (Global Protect) you will need to follow these instructions by Monday, March 27 to manually complete this work.
