Flu shots available for WVU Medicine employees

WVU Medicine has kicked off its annual flu shot campaign. Employees, physicians, licensed independent practitioners, residents, volunteers, students, contractors, and vendors throughout the organization are, once again, required to receive the vaccine, unless they have an approved medical or religious exemption. Review WVU Health System Policy V.033S – Influenza Vaccination Program for more details.

The deadline to receive the annual flu shot is Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Some reminders:

  • For hospitals that use ReadySet, employees must complete the ReadySet flu survey prior to receiving their flu shot.
  • If you receive your flu shot from a provider outside of Employee Health, proof of the immunization must be provided to your local Employee Health in order to be compliant with the requirement for mandatory vaccination. You must send your flu immunization record to Employee Health by Wednesday, Nov. 19. Documentation can be uploaded to ReadySet at those hospitals that use this application.
  • If you are requesting medical or religious exemption for the flu vaccine, you will need to submit an exemption form through Workday. The deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 5. For those requesting a medical exemption, your primary care provider will need to sign a medical exemption form.

Employees with questions about the flu vaccine should review these FAQs from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
