Celebrate hope at annual Relay for Life of Mon County and WVU

Relay for Life of Mon County and West Virginia University invites the campus and local community to get involved in this year’s event on Friday, April 14, from 6 p.m. – midnight at the WVU Shell Building located at 1501 University Avenue in Morgantown. The annual event that raises money for the American Cancer Society is a night full of music, games and prizes for all participants.

There are a few ways to attend or get involved:\

1. Create a Team: By creating a team for our event, you will be hosting games and raising money to meet our goal of $45,000. Your team can separately fundraise for the event and be in the running to receive a grand prize. Everyone on your team will pay the $15 registration fee which also contributes to our end goal. Visit www.relayforlife.org/wvuwv and click "Join This Relay" to create a team. WVU student participants can earn up to six volunteer hours.
2. Are you someone who has experienced cancer in the past or is currently fighting cancer? We would love to honor and celebrate you at our event. Those who have experienced cancer or are currently fighting can come to our event for FREE. At the event, there will be a dessert reception to honor you and your caregivers. Invite family, friends and loved ones to this night dedicated to you. You will also receive a free T-shirt. 3. Honor Someone by Purchasing a Luminaria: Luminarias honor every life touched by cancer. You can dedicate them to a loved one lost, someone currently battling or anyone who’s overcome it. When you attend a Relay event, you’ll see the Luminarias decorated with names and sometimes messages to the people they’re dedicated to. After dark, Relay participants share an emotional moment when each Luminaria is lit in remembrance of a life touched by cancer. Together, we take a moment of silence to remember the loved ones they’re dedicated to. When you make a donation for a Luminaria ($5 each) it helps fund the American Cancer Society’s mission to help save lives. Visit www.relayforlife.org/wvuwv and select Luminaria.
