Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry

James Abel, MD is the new Medical Director for United Summit Center. He is the former Medical Staff President and Medical Director of Behavioral Medicine at Fairmont Regional Medical Center.

Heart and Vascular Institute

Ellis Salloum, MD is a vascular surgeon in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. He was most recently with St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho and CHI Franciscan Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington. Dean Wickel, MD is a vascular surgeon in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and is appointed Medical Director of Vascular Surgery at Wheeling Hospital. He was a former surgeon with Floyd Memorial Medical Group in New Albany, Indiana, and former Chief of Vascular Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center.

Penny Sappington, MD is a cardiac critical care physician in the Heart and Vascular Institute, Department of Medicine and Transplant Critical Care. She is the former Medical Director of the Surgical ICU at UPMC.

Pediatrics

Jean Someshwar, MD has been appointed the Division Chief of Adolescent Medicine. She is a former WVU School of Medicine faculty member and was also faculty at George Washington University. She transferred from the WVU Medicine Eastern Division.

WVUHS Hospital Medicine

Paul Hohman, DO and Milind Awale, MD are now hospitalists with WVU Hospitals. Dr. Hohman completed internal medicine residency at Wheeling Hospital and then joined their staff, and Dr. Awale has practiced at Wheeling Hospital for several years.
