Adobe will change how you can share Creative Cloud files with non-WVU recipients on Feb. 1

Starting Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, WVU employees will be unable to send files or folders from directly within the Creative Cloud suite to any external party. That includes anyone who is NOT covered by the University’s Adobe license, including third-party vendors such as printers and media organizations.

Instead, WVU employees should store their completed Creative Cloud work products in OneDrive for Business and share files from there with non-WVU recipients. There is no need to purchase additional cloud storage; OneDrive is available for free to all WVU employees. Although your files won’t be removed during this vendor-mandated change, sharing links will no longer be visible in the Creative Cloud Files folder after Feb. 1.

PLEASE NOTE: If you store your Creative Cloud work products on your computer or in One Drive, this change won’t affect you. This only affects content stored within Creative Cloud.

Also, there is no change to Creative Cloud Documents functionality: You can still directly save files as Creative Cloud Documents via applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Adobe Fresco, and Adobe Aero; these files will remain in sync across devices, including mobile app versions where available.

Please note that if you are a student worker who shares files, and your Creative Cloud license is associated with a @mix.wvu.edu email account, you will need to have your supervisor request an Office 365 email account to get access to OneDrive. Only supervisors or Strategic Business Advisors (SBAs) can submit an Employee Email Request for Students (WVU Login required).

Please also be aware that if you use Creative Cloud File Syncing, you will need to sign in after Feb. 1 to ensure it’s turned on. Adobe will turn this feature off by default on Feb. 1 and will discontinue Creative Cloud synced files entirely on Oct. 1, 2024.
