School of Public Health students and faculty to present during the 2020 West Virginia Rural Health Conference

October 14-15, 2020

The School of Public Health will be well-represented during this year's West Virginia Rural Health Conference, hosted by the West Virginia Rural Health Association and set for October 14-15. The theme of this year’s conference, which will be held virtually, is "West Virginia’s Resilience: Innovation in Meeting Rural Challenges."

Presenters include: 

  • Adam Baus, PhD, MA, MPH, and Samantha Shawley-Brzoska, PhD, MPH, will present "The Impact of National Diabetes Prevention Programming in West Virginia" on Wed., Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. 
  • Nicole Stout, DPT, CLT-LANA, FAPTA, will present "Developing Systems of Care for WV Cancer Survivors" on Wed., Oct. 14, from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Master of Public Health student Molly Penzenik, PhD student Johnathan Herczyk and Associate Professor  Steve Davis, PhD, will present their policy brief, “The Evolution of Medicaid Telehealth Policy in West Virginia in Response to COVID-19,” as a podium presentation on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • PhD student Brenna Kirk and Professor Ranjita Misra, PhD will be joined by Deb Koester, PhD, DNP, MSN, RN; Elizabeth Cox, MD, PhD; Dana King, MD; and Michael Brumage, MD, MPH, to present "Comparing In-Person Versus Virtual Meetings for Engaging West Virginians for Diabetes Research" during a podium presentation on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • MPH student Olayemi Adeniran; Assistant Professor Ruchi Bhandari, PhD; alumnus Corey Edmonds, MPH; Director of Undergraduate Studies and Public Health Practice and Service Learning Audra Hamrick; Research Assistant Professor Brian Hendricks, PhD; Professor Sarah Knox, PhD; MPH student Madison Moody; Research Assistant Professor Toni Rudisill, PhD; MPH student Harry Russell; Research Assistant Professor Samantha Shawley-Brzoska, PhD; MPH student Sarah Sisson; Stuart M. and Joyce N. Robbins Distinguished Professor Gordon Smith, MD; and MPH student Joel Steadman will all participate in poster presentations.
