WVU School of Public Health welcomes Ola Al-Sheyab as director of MHA program

The West Virginia University School of Public Health has appointed Ola Al-Sheyab, Ph.D., as director of its Master of Health Administration program.

Al-Sheyab joins the School of Public Health from Stevenson University, where she served as the program coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and program director for the Master of Science in Healthcare Management. In those leadership roles, she oversaw curriculum development, enrollment management, internship programs, and faculty support while advancing academic quality and student success.

As director of the MHA program, Al-Sheyab will lead one of WVU School of Public Health’s premier graduate programs, supporting curriculum innovation, student learning and success, accreditation initiatives, and strategic collaborations with healthcare and community organizations.

"Her academic leadership experience with healthcare management programs, commitment to student success, and interdisciplinary background make her an outstanding fit to lead our MHA program into its next chapter."

Al-Sheyab earned a Ph.D. in workforce education and development from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Science in accounting from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Arts in communication and a Bachelor of Business in finance both from Western Illinois University. In addition, she earned the Certificate for Teaching in Healthcare Management from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration. Throughout her academic career, Al-Sheyab has taught courses in healthcare financial management, healthcare personnel management, business analytics, managed care, professional development and organizational leadership.

"I look forward to working with the students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners to prepare future leaders who will strengthen healthcare organizations and improve the well-being of communities across West Virginia."
