WVU Occupational Therapy Doctoral program capstone presentations set for April 30th

Doctoral students in the West Virginia University Division of Occupational Therapy will be presenting their capstone projects on Thursday, April 30th, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the WVU Health Sciences Center South, room 1202 or via Zoom.

This event is open to mentors, practitioners, family, friends, and the general public.

While presentations are held all day, participants can drop in for whichever sessions they are interested in.

OTD students complete a capstone project in a specialized occupational therapy area. The capstone experience allows students to develop advanced skills in project development and evaluation, clinical practice, research and advocacy.

  • 10:30 – 10:55 a.m. – Callie Honaker, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital (Morgantown, WV)
  • 11 – 11:25 a.m. – Zaccardi Muniz, WVUMedicine Rosenbaum Family House (Morgantown, WV)
  • 11:30 – 11:55 a.m. – Lura Leech, WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities TBI Program (Morgantown, WV)
  • 12:00 – 1 p.m. – Lunch Break
  • 1:00 – 1:25 p.m. – Sierra Hays, WVUMedicine Golisano Children’s Hospital (Morgantown, WV)
  • 1:30 – 1:55 p.m. – Ryan Coen, WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities LEND Program and OT Clinic (Morgantown, WV)
  • 2 – 2:25 p.m. – Samantha Merew, Onslow County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Health Department (Jacksonville, NC)
  • 2:30 p.m. – Closing remarks

The OTD program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), making it the only fully accredited doctoral program of its kind in West Virginia.
