Pallottine Foundation of Huntington provides scholarship funding for WVU School of Nursing-trained Faith Community Nurses
Thanks to generous funding from the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington, the West Virginia University School of Nursing, in collaboration with FaithHealth Appalachia, is expanding its Faith Community Nursing program into Boone, Lincoln, Mason, and Wayne counties. Nurses in these counties can receive a full scholarship for the all-online, 8-week Faith Community Nursing program. The next course will begin Sept. 15, 2025.
Katie Hoffman named director of academic personnel at WVU Health Sciences
Kathryn "Katie" Hoffman has been named director of academic personnel for the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center. In this role, she will work directly with Louise Veselicky, associate vice president for HSC Academic Affairs and her team in managing faculty retention, promotion and tenure processes, emeritus applications, and other faculty focused initiatives.

WVU in the News: Tobacco use linked to higher depression and anxiety
Adolescence is a critical time for brain and emotional development, and mental health issues like depression and anxiety are increasingly common during these years. Now, new research adds another concern for teens, parents, and health professionals: tobacco use, including e-cigarettes, may significantly increase the risk of poor mental health in teens.
WVU School of Nursing faculty, staff participate in Pittsburgh Marathon Relay
Two teams of WVU School of Nursing faculty and staff recently participate in the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay to promote teamwork, health, and well-being. The marathon relay, held May 4 in downtown Pittsburgh, was divided into five legs of varying distances. Together, each team member in the relay contributed to running a full-length marathon.
