WVU Football goes pink

The WVU Football team is joining the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and WVU Medicine to raise breast cancer awareness during the “Pink Game” on Oct. 10.

Scientist welcomes challenges from students

"Question authority. Even mine." That's the message WVU neuroscience researcher Dr. James Simpkins has for students and young scientists. Simpkins will deliver the Benedum Distinguished Scholar lecture at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the Erickson Alumni Center.

Need to schedule a classroom or other space in the Health Sciences Center?

Space is at a premium throughout the HSC. If you are organizing an event or need space for a meeting or activity, please plan ahead and put in your request as early as possible. Regularly scheduled classes have first priority when there are conflicting requests for space. The HSC Space Planning Committee has recently released an updated Central Room Scheduling Guide.

Public Health Dialogues Speaker Series event happening Oct. 2

Public Health Dialogues will host Colleen Heflin, Ph.D., associate professor and Ph.D. program director at the Truman School of Public Affairs, University of Missouri-Columbia. She will present “The Mediating Effects of SNAP on Health Outcomes for Low-Income Households” at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in room 1905 of Health Sciences North. Doors open at noon. The series is free and open to the public.

WVU epidemiologist featured in JAMA Psychiatry

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States – greater even than traffic crashes, but Ian Rockett, Ph.D., professor of epidemiology in the School of Public Health at West Virginia University, says the problem is bigger. In the latest issue of JAMA Psychiatry, he proposes a way to address it.
