WVU in the News: Biostatistics professor's work featured in MedPage Today
New research by Department of Biostatistics professor Dr. George Kelley reinforces the benefits of exercise for rheumatoid arthritis patients. A meta-analysis published in April in the journal "Arthritis Care and Research" analyzed five randomized controlled trials, with up to 298 participants per study. Kelley co-authored the study.
PT professor co-lead on grant-funded research to reduce gait deficits

West Virginia University selected as first site to launch an innovative clinical trial for Alzheimer’s
West Virginia University (WVU) has been selected as the first site for an innovative clinical trial to treat Alzheimer’s disease. Ali Rezai, M.D., director of the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, will lead the initiative in collaboration with INSIGHTEC, an Israel-based medical technology company who received approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin the clinical trial using focused ultrasound to treat Alzheimer’s.
Public health faculty to participate in Huntington's Opioid Town Hall July 28
Dr. Michael Brumage, assistant dean for public health practice and service, and Alfgeir Kristjansson, an associate professor - both of the School of Public Health - will join featured panelist Susan Shepherd, manager of the Toronto Drug Strategy Secretariat for Toronto Public Health, and Marshall University Wellness Center Director Amy Saunders for the discussion. “Responses to the Opioid Epidemic: Lessons Learned and Best Practices” will be on Saturday, July 28, 9:30 a.m. until noon, in the Marshall University Memorial Student Center, Room BE5.

WVU transforms neuroscience research and education with new Department of Neuroscience
In an effort to continue to improve brain health and wellness and understanding of neurological disorders, West Virginia University is bringing together more than 50 of its laboratories and dozens of educators to form a new Department of Neuroscience within the School of Medicine and as a part of the recently established Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.
