Day of Miracles to benefit WVU Medicine Children’s

Miracles happen every day within the walls of WVU Medicine Children’s – babies are born, kids recover from life-threatening illnesses and injuries, and they go home to live the happy and healthy lives they were destined to live. Radio stations across the state and region will join forces to celebrate the Day of Miracles from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, so that even more miracles can happen.

Dr. Fawwaz Shaw joins WVU Medicine Children’s

WVU Medicine Children’s – the state’s sole provider of pediatric cardiothoracic surgery – has recruited Fawwaz Shaw, M.D., to join Robert Gustafson, M.D., surgeon in chief, who has been the only pediatric heart surgeon in West Virginia for more than three decades.

Change comes from within

West Virginia University's responsibility as the state’s Land Grant University is to use the power of knowledge and human connection to lift up people everywhere in our state. But as they say on airplanes, in an emergency you should put on your own oxygen mask first, before you attempt to help others. You can’t be much help if you gasping for air. That’s why WVU's vice president for health sciences has asked a group of leaders from across WVU Medicine and the Health Sciences Center – and outside our campus – to join the new Quality of Life Initiative.
