WVU hosts IBM talk on delivering healthcare services

On Thursday, May 3, West Virginia University will be hosting “Powering your Research with IBM Watson: IBM Watson + Healthcare,” from 5-8 p.m., in room 135 of the Advanced Engineering Research Building. The event is open to the WVU community; dinner and refreshments will be provided.

Role of the Research Coordinator

WVCTSI will continue its four-part Clinical and Translational Research Seminar Series focusing on clinical trials on May 18. For this second installment, Anne Schnatterly, BSN, RN, CCRP, manager of clinical oncology services with the WVU Cancer Institute, will present “Role of the Research Coordinator.”

Staff invited to Nurses Week drumming circles

The staff from Chestnut Ridge Center will host two drumming circles for National Nurses Week (May 6-12). The first is Monday, May 7, from 1-2 p.m., and the second is Friday, May 11, from 1-2 p.m. Both drumming circles will be held at the flag pole in front of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. All employees are welcome to participate.

Call for art created by health professionals at WVU

WVU Art in the Libraries, in collaboration with the WVU Health Sciences Center, is seeking visual artists in the healthcare field working at WVU and WVU Medicine to participate in a group exhibition to take place in the fall of 2018 in the WVU Health Sciences Library.

Cancer expert Frederick L. Greene presents Department of Surgery Grand Rounds

The Department of Surgery will host Frederick L. Greene, MD, FACS, for an upcoming Grand Rounds on May 9. As the 2018 Donald L. Morton, MD Visiting Professor, Greene, an adjunct professor of surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and medical director for cancer data services at the Levine Cancer Center Institute, will present "Prognostic and Predictive Factors in the Staging of Cancer: 2018 and Beyond" at 8 a.m.
