Dr. Garrett Butler receives award

Each year, WVSOM presents two Outstanding Preceptors Awards in each statewide campus region. One goes to a primary care physician and one to a non-primary care specialist. The students in each region nominate preceptors for the awards. Our Region, the Central East Region, includes the central part of WV from Elkins and Buckhannon to Weston, Bridgeport, and Morgantown.

Judith Feinberg has a joint appointment in the West Virginia University School of Medicine as a professor of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry and Medicine/Infectious Diseases. She is the Vice Chair of the HIV Medicine Association and a nationally-recognized expert on the opioid epidemic in West Virginia, Appalachia and rural America.

Cancer Institute clinical team and transplant patients celebrate life at 25th annual patient reunion

The WVU Cancer Institute Osborn Hematopoietic Malignancy and Transplantation Program has reached a significant milestone – 25 years of providing lifesaving transplants to West Virginians with blood and marrow diseases. The first transplant was performed in October 1992 and since then more than 1,350 patients have received the procedure and hundreds of non-transplant patients have received the latest treatment close to home.
