WVU-led physical activity community program thrives, despite COVID-19, seeks new applicants
Amidst a global pandemic, exercise has become a more valuable tool in boosting immune systems and managing stress, according to West Virginia University researchers. Thanks to a program spearheaded by the WVU College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, West Virginians, from Berkeley County to Mingo County, will have new and improved opportunities to be physically active in their communities.

She’s a veteran of two Gulf Wars. A nurse, an educator and a staunch advocate for nurses, veterans and the LBGTQ+ community. Now Dr. Sandra (Sam) Cotton is the chair of the WVU School of Nursing’s (SON) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Public Health student uses data expertise to advance telehealth research
Major events – including a pandemic – can change the way we live and work. For some, it signals a time to look for new opportunities and reinvent their career. For others, like Molly Penzenik, it reinforces their chosen path.
Making the changes she wanted to see: Dianne Techwei helped found student organization to bring together minority cultures
West Virginia University School of Pharmacy student Dianne Techwei continuously saw minority cultures excluded in health care conversations, so she founded an organization — Multicultural Association for Students in Healthcare (MASH) — to bring together students from different backgrounds.
