WVU in the News: To address health inequities and end the HIV epidemic, we need a robust HIV and ID workforce

Every Dec. 1 since 1988, World AIDS Day has been observed to call attention to the HIV epidemic, increase HIV awareness and knowledge, address HIV stigma and spur increased action to advance ending the HIV epidemic in the United States and globally. In this post, Judith Feinberg, MD, FIDSA, a past chair of HIVMA and professor of medicine/infectious diseases and professor of behavioral medicine and psychiatry at West Virginia University, discusses the need for a robust HIV and infectious diseases workforce to advance health equity and improve health outcomes for people with HIV.

Student helps bring documentary film to Morgantown

A preview screening event with the filmmaker of a new feature documentary film, “Tipping the Pain Scale,” will take place Thursday, Dec. 9, in the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center Okey Patteson Auditorium.

Parcell named chair for WVU School of Nursing, WVU Tech campus

Hillary Parcell MSN, RN, will lead the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program on the Beckley campus starting January 1, 2022. Working under the direction of Dean Tara Hulsey, Parcell will be responsible for the administrative day-to-day operations of the program, curriculum, committee assignments, teaching assignments, budgeting and programming, as well as faculty reviews and evaluations.
