WVU, CDC finalize mask observation study results with plans to continue in the spring
The West Virginia University School of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concluded their mask-observation study, with plans to continue the project in the spring. The primary purpose of the study: estimate the percentage of people within the WVU community wearing masks correctly, as observing mask use can assist universities with determining the adherence among students, faculty and staff to inform public health decision-making.

WVU to hold online commencement ceremonies Dec. 19
Bringing together families, friends and fellow classmates from across the country and around the world to celebrate the August and December Classes of 2020, West Virginia University will host 14 online commencement ceremonies for the 2,680 graduates on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Sharing Stories and Taking Action: Racial Justice Grantee Showcase
Senior Associate Dean Linda Alexander and Eberly Distinguished Professor of Public Service Daniel McNeil will share about their collaborative Racial Justice Grant initiative during a virtual showcase on Friday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. Registration is required.

New Public Health appointment to address state’s 21st century workforce needs
The West Virginia University School of Public Health is pleased to announce that W. Constinia Charbonnette, Ed.D., MBA, will join the Office of Academic and Student Affairs in the newly-created role of director of strategic education initiatives. Charbonnette will also serve as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Leadership.
