2019 RUSH (Rural Undergraduate Shadowing in Healthcare) Program application, Sept. 30 Deadline

Are you an undergraduate student interested in a career in a healthcare profession serving in a rural community? Thinking about medical or dental school? The WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health RUSH program is a great introduction to practicing in rural communities. The application is now open. All applications must be completed by September 30, 2019. A selection will be made by October 15, 2019. Click here to apply. https://www.hsc.wvu.edu/icrh/students/rush-program/ - Shadow a rural practitioner for a total of 20 hours during specific dates agreed upon by the participating practitioner and the student -Receive a participation award of $300 after shadow completion -Work with the WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health and the WVU PreHealth Professional Development Office to identify other rural-related programs relevant to your chosen health profession discipline including research and service activities. WVU Cancer Institute welcomes health researcher Dr. Nicole Stout

WVU Cancer Institute - Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) and the Division of Hematology/Oncology would like to introduce a new addition to our faculty. Nicole L. Stout, DPT, CLT-LANA, FAPTA is a renowned health care researcher, consultant, educator, and advocate. She joins the WVUCI as a research assistant professor in the School of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology this month and looks forward to meeting with fellow researchers, clinicians, and advocates interested in cancer survivorship.

Monthly seminar series kicks off September 18

The WVU School of Public Health Department of Biostatics will kick off its monthly seminar series with a presentation by M. Abbas Virji, MSc, ScD, CIH, FAIHA. Virji is a research industrial hygienist in the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Respiratory Health Division.

Dept. of Surgery faculty chosen to chair Department Of Defense study section

Linda Vona-Davis PhD, Department of Surgery and Director of the MS in Health Sciences Program was selected to serve on the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program Breast Cancer Research study section as the chair of the review panel. This study section reviews grants for breast cancer prevention, including technology development and/or marker discovery.
