Physician Assistant Studies seeking part-time medical director

Concurrent with new initiatives within the academic Health Sciences Center and its affiliated health system, university leadership is committed to fulfilling the WVU land grant mission of addressing the healthcare needs of West Virginia citizens. WVU is committed to the education of a health care workforce prepared to address population health needs, including the preparation of Physician Assistants as part of an inter-professional team. The part-time, (0.30 FTE), Medical Director serves as a resource and content expert for the program, and works closely with the program director and other faculty to ensure that didactic instruction and supervised clinical practice experiences are consistent with current practice standards as they relate to the role of the physician assistant in providing patient care. Additionally, the medical director will model team practice in both the clinical and academic setting, and advocate for the program in the medical community.

New scholars program available to health professions students in West Virginia

WV AHEC Rural Community Health Scholars (RCH Scholars) is a two-year program available to 75 of West Virginia’s top health professions students interested in rural health care.  RCH Scholars focuses on interprofessional education through clinical, didactic, and community-based lenses, and emphasizes how each Scholar can create change and reshape the status quo for health care in his or her community.

Ruby goes live with FUJI Synapse cardiology and radiology PACS

In 2016-2017, WVU Medicine approved a multi-million dollar initiative to replace multiple cardiology and radiology imaging archives. The goal was to create a system-wide standard imaging platform for a Cardiovascular Imaging System for invasive cardiology and a Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) to retain traditional and non-traditional images.

Young Physicians Newsletter publishes new edition

The Young Physician Newsletter of the West Virginia State Medical Association has published a new edition of the YPSgram, a bimonthly newsletter targeted to physicians in training and those early in their career. This edition covers the topic of how financial habits can contribute to happiness.
