WVU Cancer Institute surgical oncologists perform new treatment for abdominal cancer
Brian Boone, MD, surgical oncologist in the WVU Medicine Department of Surgery and WVU Cancer Institute, performed the state’s first hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) infusion. This treatment delivers heated, sterilized chemotherapy to the abdomen as a treatment for cancer that has spread to the lining of the abdominal cavity, or peritoneum.

Researchers at West Virginia University (WVU) are working to develop a vaccine against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the highly treatment-resistant bacteria that are a frequent cause of chronic lung infection and damage in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients.
Paved pathway added to Lot 36 to help foot traffic to Mountaineer Station
WVU Medicine employees who park in Lot 36 (the lot adjacent to the Morgantown Fire Station) have access to a new temporary paved pathway, which has been created along the southern edge of the existing parking lot.
Mobile Food Pantry Available
The Rack, WVU's Campus Food Pantry, will have a mobile food pantry available to all students, faculty, and staff on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Mountainlair Lobby. The pantry is availble from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Stop the Bleed classes offered
Motivated by the 2012 tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School and multiple tragedies that have occurred in the ensuing years, the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma is leading the effort to save lives by teaching the civilian population to provide vital initial response to stop uncontrolled bleeding in emergency situations.
Epic to be upgraded Saturday; recordings of first four upgrade webinars for providers available

Neuroscience faculty receive HSC research awards
