Last month, Be Wild, Be Wonderful, Be Healthy--a CDC initiative being carried out by West Virginia University and WVU Extension--unveiled a new park in Clay County. School of Public Health Associate Professor Christiaan Abildso serves on the Be Wild, Be Wonderful, Be Healthy Executive Management Board and credits collaboration, combined with a fresh perspective, for making the project a success.
WVU Cancer Institute researcher named a Putnam Scholar
Dannell Boatman, EdD, MS, research associate in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at WVU Cancer Institute, was selected by the Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH) as one of two researchers to join the 2023 cohort of the Putnam Scholars Program.

WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital named top hospital in state by U.S. News & World Report
WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital has retained its title of number one hospital in West Virginia and ranked 41st in the nation in Obstetric and Gynecological Care according to the 2023-24 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital rankings. Nine WVU Medicine hospitals, including Ruby Memorial Hospital, were recognized as High Performing in one or more categories.

WVU provides salary adjustment to offset PEIA employee premium increases
In response to recent increases to West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency insurance premiums for Plan Year 2024, West Virginia University is adjusting the base salaries for employees who carry PEIA health benefits, effective Sunday, Aug. 13.
