WVCTSI hosting Dartmouth professor for special cancer focused seminar
WVCTSI is pleased to welcome Periannan Kuppusamy, Ph.D., professor of radiology and medicine at the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine, for a special seminar on July 11. Dr. Kuppusamy will present, “Tumor Oxygenation for Enhancing Radiation Therapy for Cancer: Sense & Sensibility.”

The construction of WVU Medicine’s new parking garage on Willowdale Road will cause some street closures and traffic delays in June and July.

LaSala named Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories
Rocco LaSala, M.D., has been appointed Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Dr. LaSala is an Associate Professor in the WVU School of Medicine Department of Pathology, Anatomy & Laboratory Medicine. Dr. LaSala joined WVU from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 2009 as Medical Director of the Microbiology Laboratory. He is board-certified in Clinical/Anatomic Pathology and Medical Microbiology and has been the Associate Director of Clinical Laboratories since 2010.

West Virginia e-Directive registry reaches 100,000 forms received
The West Virginia Center for End-of-Life Care’s e-Directive Registry recently crossed a milestone by receiving 100,000 forms. Typically, the Center receives between 40 to 80 forms per day or about 1,000 to 1,500 per month.

WVU in the News: West Virginia Fights Virus by Launching Hepatitis C Program
An initiative to combat the rise of hepatitis C infections has launched in West Virginia. A five-year program called HepConnect launched Wednesday at West Virginia University. Several experts convened including Clay Marsh, M.D., WVU Health Sciences vice president and executive dean as a keynote speaker.
