Second virtual forum scheduled for persons of color, underrepresented minorities
The Health Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council invites all faculty, residents/fellows and students who identify as a person of color or an underrepresented minority to join a virtual forum Monday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. The forum is designed to promote connectivity among the Health Sciences community across schools, departments, disciplines and career stages.
WVU announces details on residence hall return and COVID-19 testing for spring semester
To help students, faculty and staff prepare for a safe return to campus in January, West Virginia University is providing details on the residence hall return process and COVID-19 testing for the spring semester, which begins on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Holiday parties at Health Sciences not permitted this year
In an effort to protect the Health Sciences community, holiday parties are not permitted this year at worksite locations on and off campus.
Patient self-service price estimates now available via MyWVUChart
On Nov. 15, 2019, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized policies that will make prices for items and services provided by all U.S. hospitals more transparent for patients so that they can be more informed about what they might pay for hospital items and services. The compliance date for these new rules, which lay the foundation for a patient-driven healthcare system, is Jan. 1, 2021.
Gov. Justice Visits Fairmont Medical Center
Gov. Jim Justice visited the WVU Medicine Fairmont Medical Center greeting dozens of employees. “It’s really a gratifying day for me to be able to stop by and see the progress we’ve made,” Gov. Justice said. “Things are going well, maybe even exceeding expectations. And, as we exceed expectations, we’re just going to be able to do more, employ more, and bring in more services.”

Starting Monday, Nov. 2, The Market @ WVU is opening a new grab-and-go kiosk at the location in an effort to provide more diverse and healthier options.
