Under the Dome: February 16, 2021 Edition
Under the Dome delivers a review of the issues being considered by the 85th West Virginia Legislature of West Virginia. It provides information on matters that affect WVU and higher education. This edition provides an update on the first week of the legislative session, Governor Justice’s State of the State address and several high-profile bills introduced during the first few days of session.
Medicine Grand Rounds hosts Dr. Sakhuja, Dr. Kovacic and Dr. Shigle
Dr. Ankit Sakhuja, Dr. Nicole Kovacic and Dr. Amanda Shigle will speak as part of the Medicine Grand Rounds on Friday, Feb. 19, at 8 a.m. This presentation titled "Albumin Therapy: Soaking Up the Evidence" will take place over Zoom. Allegheny-Eric Society of Toxicology Award Announcement
This year, in lieu of the travel award, AE-SOT announced the Merit-Based Professional Development Award. This award will allow the recipients to get up to $250 in reimbursement for career and professional development activities.
Deadline to complete Conflict of Interest Disclosure CBL is today
The 2021 Conflict of Interest and Disclosure CBL has been assigned to all employees and contracted employees of the WVU Health System and UHA and is available in NetLearning. The completion deadline is Monday, Feb. 15.

WVU Health System among country’s top employers, according to Forbes
Twenty-six hospitals and health systems were recently named to Forbes' annual list of "America's best large employers," and the WVU Health System is on the list. For its list, Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to survey Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Survey participants were asked about their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family and were asked to nominate organizations other than their own. The final list ranks 500 large employers that received the most recommendations from the survey. The WVU Health System is No. 180 on the list. Read the Forbes article >>>

WVU’s Third Annual Research Week slated to begin in April
WVU’s third-annual Research Week is slated to begin April 12, and the Research Office and Provost’s Office are looking for event submissions. The WVU community is invited to submit their events using the online form.
