WVU provides additional health, safety guidance for spring event planning

West Virginia University strongly encourages hosting virtual events, programs, activities and gatherings when possible to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The University has developed guidance for limited capacity events on campus during the remainder of the spring semester. This guidance may be modified based on factors such as the positivity rate on campus or in the community and increased hospitalization rates.

Under the Dome: March 23, 2021 Edition

Under the Dome delivers a review of the issues being considered by the 85th Legislature of West Virginia. It provides information on matters that affect WVU and higher education. This edition provides an update on the remote worker legislation and other issues, including several high-profile bills introduced and being debated, as the Legislature enters the final three weeks of regular session.

Telemedicine Conference with Jamaica: Interesting IM Cases from Teaching Wards

The WVU Global Health Program’s monthly conference series “Teleconference with Jamaica” aims to build collaboration and educational exchange of information with University global health sites. Medicine Grand Rounds hosts Dr. Vincent Traynelis of Rush University

Children’s Hospital CARES initiative extended to May 28

Every day, the new nine-story, 150-bed WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital is getting closer to completion, but the $60 million project can always use some more help. WVU Medicine employees can help make the finishing touches of this long-awaited dream become a reality for West Virginia and its families. WVU Medicine CARES is an opportunity for the WVU Medicine family to select and contribute to the WVU Medicine Children’s area of their choice. Providers and staff are asked to consider making a gift to one or more of these areas of need: Birthing Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Pediatrics, Surgical Services, Medical Office Building, General Support. Those who contribute $50 or more will have their name permanently displayed in the new hospital. A total of 330 gifts have been received so far; the deadline to contribute has been extended to May 28.

WVU launches text service to reinforce safe choices, curb binge drinking

Students at West Virginia University can now receive adaptive text messages encouraging them to make safer choices about alcohol use by questioning how likely they are to have more than four drinks at any single occasion, how they are prepared to handle peer pressure and if they are willing to set a goal to drink less.
