Veterans can request an appointment for Veteran Oral Health Day
A limited number of appointments will be available at Veteran Oral Health Day on Friday, November 12, 2021. Veterans and active National Guard and Reserve members will receive free dental screenings, x-rays as necessary, cleaning, simple fillings and other urgent care needs based on the determination of the faculty and student dental and dental hygiene providers.
Fellowship opportunity: Take Back Our Health WV
The Take Back Our Health WV Fellowship supports undergraduate and graduate students to contribute to policy research focused on improving access to healthy food, physical activity infrastructure and safe drinking water for all. Undergraduate fellows will be awarded $500. Graduate fellows will receive an award of $1,000. Application deadline is Oct. 22.

BeWell Blog — "Try This Tuesday: 'What If' Thinking"
The BeWell team is offering a series of helpful tips for mental health and wellbeing called "Try This Tuesday." This week, Layne Hitchcock discusses discusses "what if" thinking, which is normal and common, and can help keep other perspectives in mind. However, "what if" thinking can become problematic whenever prolonged, chronic, or when it causes distress, anxiety, and interferes with daily life functioning.
WVU to extend indoor mask requirement on all campuses through Oct. 20
West Virginia University will extend requirements for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask indoors in all WVU System buildings and facilities through Oct. 20, when public health conditions will be reevaluated.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia is teaming up with the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, the FBI, and West Virginia University to hold a symposium discussing the cutting-edge methods used to convict a serial killer who preyed on veterans at a VA hospital.
