WVU Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders seeks volunteers with Parkinson’s disease for paid study
The WVU Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking volunteers diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease to participate in a paid research study. The study focuses on how Clear Speech Intervention affects speech communication for people with the disease. Individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s who are noticing difficulty with their speech and communication are encouraged to apply.
WVU employee helps decorate White House for holidays
This holiday season, the work of a West Virginia University employee is on display at the White House. Mary Veselicky, a program assistant in the WVU School of Dentistry Department of Periodontics, had the opportunity to spread Mountaineer spirit and Christmas cheer as a volunteer decorator for this year’s display.
Nursing presentation explores attitudes of health professions students towards persons with disabilities
During the 2023 West Virginia Rural Health Conference, Dr. Melanie Whelan presented “Attitudes Towards Persons with Disabilities among Dental, Medical and Nursing Students.” The study was conducted by Dr. Veronica Gallo, Dr. Whelan and Dr. Kerri Woodberry.
Keyser nursing students host stress relieving activities to support wellness
WVU School of Nursing Keyser Campus students recently hosted a stress reduction activity as part of their NSG 411 on-campus clinical rotation. The event welcomed students, faculty and staff at the WVU Potomac State College Student Health Center.
Beckley Student Nurses’ Association scores for strong Career Mentorship participation
The WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus Student Nurses’ Association was recently awarded for their strong turnout at the WVU Tech Career Mentorship Event. Because 18 SNA members attended the event, more than any other student organization, they were awarded $250. The SNA utilized the prize to support their annual Thanksgiving basket project.
