New Health Systems Management minor gives WVU students a pathway into healthcare leadership
West Virginia University students interested in the business, leadership, and operational aspects of healthcare now have a new way to expand their education through the Health Systems Management minor offered by the WVU School of Public Health.

The Service Award recognizes a faculty member who has served the university over committee work, departmental service, and service to one’s discipline or profession. This year’s recipient is Mindy Harris, MSN, RN, Assistant Professor in Nursing on the WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus.

Medicine Grand Rounds: Dr. Bancos to present Oct. 30
Irina Bancos, MD, MSc, from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, will present at the WVU School of Medicine Medicine Grand Rounds.
Music in the Pylons to be held October 26
West Virginia University’s Operation Blue Sky will present Music in the Pylons on October 26, 2026, at 12 p.m. The WVU Graduate Wind Quintet will perform with Jackson Thee on flute, Joel Panas playing Clarinet, Chase Kennedy on oboe, Kyle Jones on french horn, and Madi Cardenas playing bassoon. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to enjoy a free afternoon of music.

WVU Department of Radiology interim chair announced
Brian Markovich, MD, has been appointed as the interim chair of the WVU Department of Radiology. Dr. Markovich, whose appointment began October 1, 2026, is an associate professor and currently serves as the vice chair of clinical operations for the department.

Lee A. Pyles, M.D., has been named 2026 West Virginia University School of Medicine M.D. Distinguished Alumnus and will be honored during the School’s annual Alumni Weekend, October 16 – 18 in Morgantown.
