School of Public Health welcomes new communications specialist

On May 18, the School of Public Health and University Relations-Health Sciences welcomed their newest employee, Kayla Gagnon. Kayla joins the team as a communications specialist, reporting to Nikky Luna, director of marketing and communications for the SPH. She will be the lead multimedia producer and social media coordinator, as well as a collaborator across the school for marketing and news products, web content, recruitment materials and other communication materials as needed.

A two-time graduate of West Virginia University, Kayla has been working for WVU in various communications-based roles since she was an undergraduate. She’s worked for a variety of organizations including the independent student newspaper, The Daily Athenaeum, where she established the organization’s video department; the independent collaborative nonprofit Appalachian newsroom “100 Days in Appalachia;" and recently served as a graduate assistant with WVU Extension’s communications department. Kayla has experience in news writing, video production and editing, podcasting and digital project management.

A native of Voorhees, New Jersey, Kayla earned both her degrees from WVU's Reed College of Media, graduating with her bachelor’s in journalism and her master’s in digital marketing communications.
