WVU alumnus honored with international humanitarian award for global mission work
Dave Fogarty, M.D., DDS, a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry and the School of Medicine, has been recognized with the 2025 Noordhoff Humanitarian Award from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for his extraordinary dedication to the mission of plastic and reconstructive surgery around the world.
Virtual Mindful Steps series begins Oct. 2
Mindful Steps Part 1 is a six-week intermediate class that is designed to assist in developing and maintaining mindful resilience, mental fitness and relaxation. Participants are invited to attend up to six one-hour sessions that offer a variety of simple yet practical tools to be mindful in daily living. The class is on Thursdays from Oct. 2 to Nov. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. on Zoom.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – WVU Medicine celebrated a major milestone yesterday (Sept. 16) with the groundbreaking of a new patient tower at Berkeley Medical Center, the centerpiece of a historic $260 million investment to expand healthcare access in the Eastern Panhandle.

The West Virginia University Medicine Pediatrics program is hosting their annual apparel sale with apparel for WVU Medicine and WVU Children's. Orders will be accepted until September 28, 2025 at 11:59 p.m., when both online stores will close.
Celebration of Life Honoring Solveig Grønning Ericson, M.D.
Solveig G. Ericson, M.D., former director of the West Virginia University Cancer Institute's Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) program, passed away at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 6, 2025. From 1995 to 2007, she worked at West Virginia University Health Sciences Center, where she developed and published educational material for BMT patients and caregiver, founded the WVU Hematologic Malignancy program and achieved full accreditation of the BMT program.
