Doerr retires after 30+ years at WVU, leaves legacy of education and patient-centric care
Russell "Rusty" Doerr, lead simulation education specialist at the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety, has retired after more than 30 years at West Virginia University.

WVU to host in-person DNP Nurse Anesthetist information session Aug. 1
The WVU School of Nursing will host an in-person information session for the Doctor of Nursing Practice Nurse Anesthetist program on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the session will kick off at 9 a.m. in Health Sciences Center-North, Room 2940A.
Cisco Phone service, including Jabber, will be discontinued at the end of summer
The two-year project to move the University's phone service from outdated Cisco hardware to Zoom Phone is now in its final two months. The University’s Cisco Phone service will be disconnected by the end of summer.
Dr. Matthew Hottle to chair WVU School of Nursing Keyser Campus
Dr. Matthew Hottle, PhD, RN, has been selected to chair the Keyser Campus of the WVU School of Nursing, located at WVU Potomac State College. He brings nearly two decades of nursing experience to the role, as well as department chair experience from a local community college.

WVU in the News: WVU School of Nursing BSN program earns Program of Excellence distinction
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the West Virginia University School of Nursing has been named a WVU Board of Governors Program of Excellence. The recognition is the first for the BSN program and includes all undergraduate nursing pathways at WVU, including the traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN, RN to BSN and LPN to BSN programs.
