The West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Medical Laboratory Science program will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a special ceremony on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at WVU’s Erickson Alumni Center.

Many offices and labs at the Health Sciences Center are cluttered with outdated paper and other items. We’ve designated March 27-31 as our official Spring Cleaning Week. There will be extra help available from WVU Facilities to get your unwanted items out of the building (and your life!)

The 2017 M.D. commencement ceremony has been set for Fri., May 12, 6 p.m. at the Creative Arts Center. The Student Awards Convocation is scheduled for Thur., May 11, 5 p.m. in Fukushima Auditorium.

School of Medicine to celebrate WVU's 150th anniversary
The School of Medicine will be commemorating WVU’s 150th birthday during the week of April 3-7, with a Gold and Blue Day honored across all SOM campuses on April 5; buttons, stickers and balloons will be distributed to students throughout the week; and, flying “WV” cookies will be provided to School of Medicine students on Friday, April 7.

John I. Lew, M.D., associate professor of surgery and division chief of endocrine surgery in the DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine will be the Thomas H. Covey Jr., M.D. Visiting Professor Lecture for the Department of Surgery on Wed., March 29, 8 a.m. in Okey Patteson audit, Health Sciences Center. His topic will be "Surgical Treatment of Primary Hyperparathyroidism: Evolution from Form to Function."
WVU School of Medicine students received white coats March 18
The members of the West Virginia University School of Medicine Class of 2019 donned the most significant symbol of their chosen profession – the white coat – for the first time on March 18 at the annual John W. Traubert White Coat Ceremony, during which 100 students in the class were presented with their white coats.
Department of Otolaryngology residents participate in research competition at Schein Conference
Two WVU otolaryngology residents participated in the Schein competition for best research, along with several institutions at the Schein conference at the University of Pittsburgh.
