Infections caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria are becoming increasingly prevalent. Individuals with the genetic disorder Cystic Fibrosis, or CF, are particularly prone to these infections because of their compromised immune status. CF patients develop respiratory infections caused by bacteria such as the pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

The Department of Surgery will host Frederick L. Greene, MD, FACS, for an upcoming Grand Rounds on May 9. As the 2018 Donald L. Morton, MD Visiting Professor, Greene, an adjunct professor of surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and medical director for cancer data services at the Levine Cancer Center Institute, will present "Prognostic and Predictive Factors in the Staging of Cancer: 2018 and Beyond" at 8 a.m.
