Seeking career and life mentors for undergraduate students
WVU Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology Department, in collaboration with the WVU School of Medicine Health Professions and the WVU School of Public Health are looking for professionals to serve as career and life mentors to undergraduate students. Ideally, we would like for these mentors to be in professional fields that intersect with health disparities that are prevalent in West Virginia and rural Appalachia. Standing desk not the answer to decreasing blood pressure, WVU research shows
Alternating between sitting and standing at work decreases sedentary behavior, but it has no effect on lowering blood pressure, according to a study led by a West Virginia University epidemiologist. Researchers also found that too much standing during work may have negative effects on cardiovascular health.

The Health Sciences Hub provides basic standards of protocol and guidelines for events at Health Sciences including how to get started, develop a formal plan and coordinate event logistics and suggested vendors. All event planners are encouraged to become familiar with these standards and refer to the website as a resource throughout the planning process.

New Faculty Orientation will be held Friday, Nov. 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bruce McClymonds Conference Room located in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
