Save the Date: WVU School of Nursing to feature Dr. Devon Noonan as keynote speaker during Kandzari Lectureship
The WVU School of Nursing will welcome Dr. Devon Noonan as the keynote speaker for the Kandzari Lectureship, set for Thursday, April 23, 2026. The lectureship, “Rural Health Nursing: Grounded in Community Based Solutions,” will be held at the WVU Health Sciences Center, Okey Patteson Auditorium.
WVU School of Nursing’s Beckley Campus Chair named one of WVU Tech’s 2026 Alumni of the Year
Hillary Parcell, WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus Chair, has been named one of WVU Tech’s Alumni of the Year. A 2008 graduate from WVU Tech, Parcell earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has since earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2011, and she is currently working toward her Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies.
Beckley Campus nursing professor selected as Professor of the Year finalist by the Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia
Peggy Fink, an associate professor at the WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus, has been selected as one of five 2025 Professor of the Year finalists by the Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia.
Junior nursing student selected for study abroad scholarship
Kaelyn Wright, a WVU School of Nursing junior, has been selected for a study abroad scholarship by the Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Multiple Health Sciences entrances temporarily closed due to inclement weather
Multiple entrances to the Health Sciences buildings are temporarily closed due to cold temperatures. Detour signage is posted for the affected areas and facilities is working to resolve those issues.
Test of WVU Safety Notification System scheduled for Feb. 3
To ensure proper communication during emergencies, a test of the WVU Safety Notification System is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 3) on the Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser campuses.

The WVU School of Nursing has received one of the top 100 rankings in the country by U.S. News & World Report for the Best Online Master’s in Nursing Programs for 2026.

WVU continues to transition to Zoom Phone to avoid deferred maintenance costs exceeding $1 million and better support a large workforce with many hybrid and fully remote staff.
Operation Blue Sky Music in the Pylons to be held Feb. 2
WVU Health Sciences Operation Blue Sky invites all students, faculty and staff to visit Pylons Commons for a special performance on Feb. 2 by Ryu Wada, violin; Jackson Thee, flute; Jeremiah Hines, piano; and Supphanat Lamache, piano. Music will last from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Free coffee and hot chocolate will be provided.

WVU Libraries has added AccessMedicine to the suite of online resources licensed for WVU users. Available on and off campus, AccessMedicine contains hundreds of essential medical ebooks, thousands of videos, as well as cases, review questions, and study tools.
