WVU announces plans for return to campus for fall semester, communication timeline released
Students will return to West Virginia University’s three campuses to begin fall classes on Wednesday, Aug. 19, the University announced today (June 3). Students will remain on campus, with no fall break, through Nov. 24, then depart for Thanksgiving Break, not returning to campus for the rest of the fall semester. There will be one week of online instruction following Thanksgiving Break, with finals also conducted online.

Health Sciences classroom restrictions and in-person meetings
During the summer semester, the use of all Health Sciences (HSC) classrooms will be restricted to ONLY essential academic activities that cannot be held online (i.e. gross anatomy lab, simulation lab, etc.) and that are necessary to ensure the progression of our students.

WVCTSI has learned that some units have advised that WVCTSI requires chair or institute director approval before seeking services. This is not true – faculty seeking services may either enter service requests in the iLab system OR contact Meghan Reeves at mreeves1@hsc.wvu.edu for direction.
Panagakos named interim dean for the WVU School of Dentistry
An experienced educator, private dental care practitioner and oral healthcare industry research expert, Dr. Fotinos Panagakos will continue to serve in his current position as vice dean of administration and research while also being named interim dean beginning July 1.

With significantly increased testing a key component in the battle against COVID-19, the Innovation Hub at West Virginia University is working with WVU Medicine to churn out up to 10,000 swabs weekly to meet demands for tests.
