Five distinguished West Virginia University graduates, whose accomplishments span communications, business, leadership, music and nursing, will be inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni. The honorees, Linda Arnold, Luke Frazier, Sharon Burmeister Lord, Diana Murphy and Laura J. Wood, will be celebrated during a Feb. 7 ceremony at the Erickson Alumni Center.

WVU Nursing alumna named Advanced Practice Provider of the Year
Adrienne Duckworth, AOCNP, a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Nursing and director of the WVU Cancer Institute Survivorship Program, has been named the 2024 Advanced Practice Provider of the Year by the WVU Medicine Office of Advanced Practice Recruitment and Retention Committee.

Sarah Sofka, M.D., has been named the associate dean and ACGME designated institution official for the West Virginia University School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education program. Dr. Sofka fills the role being vacated by Manuel Vallejo, M.D., DMD.
WVU School of Dentistry to host day of free oral care for children
The West Virginia University School of Dentistry will recognize National Children’s Dental Health Month by offering free care on Give Kids A Smile Day. The annual event is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the WVU Dental clinic at Suncrest Towne Centre in Morgantown.
