WVU in the News: United Hospital Center growth plans include wing, School of Nursing
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WV News) — In yet another challenging year for the health care industry nationwide, the staff at WVU Medicine-United Hospital Center in Bridgeport rose to the occasion to ensure that patients received appropriate care and that the hospital can continue growth to support the expanding health care needs of the community, according to the hospital’s president and CEO.
Four WVU School of Nursing students receive Beckley VAMC nurse residency
Elijah Brown, Ted Cancel, Robert Harris and Jestin Smith have been accepted into the competitive VA Learning Opportunities Residency (VALOR) program, which provides opportunities for outstanding junior level Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students who want to provide care for those who have served our nation.

WV Health Care Decisions Act undergoes major revisions
For the first time in 20 years, the West Virginia Health Care Decisions Act has undergone a major revision. The new version of the WV Health Care Decisions Act (SB 470) becomes effective June 7, 2022 and requires all healthcare facilities to update the forms they provide to patients no later than January 1, 2023.
