“Under the Dome” delivers a review of issues members of the West Virginia Legislature are considering. It provides information on matters that affect WVU and higher education, as well as other hot topics being addressed that impact the Mountain State and its citizens.

2023 RUSH (Rural Undergraduate Shadowing in Healthcare) Application Now Open!
Are you an undergraduate student interested in a career in a healthcare profession serving in a rural community? Thinking about medical, dental or nursing school? The WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health RUSH program is a great introduction to practicing in rural communities. The application is now open. All applications must be completed by February 13, 2023. A selection will be made by February 20, 2023.
Winter wellness classes now available
It's a new year, and with that is a new season of wellness classes, including Pilates, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi and zumba. The in-person and virtual classes are open to all WVU and WVU Medicine faculty, staff and students.
Nominations open for Distinction in Mentoring Graduate Students in Research
Sponsored by the Office of Graduate Education and Life and the Research Office, faculty, staff and current and former graduate students are invited to nominate faculty who exhibit the qualities of excellent graduate research/creative work mentorship.
Nursing student’s capstone project leads to playground improvements to increase childhood exercise
During her community placement in the Fall 2022, Rachel Gobrecht noticed many children at White Hall Elementary School near Fairmont were overweight and did not enjoy physical activity opportunities on the playground. Through her research and efforts, technology-driven physical activities are being incorporated at area playgrounds.
American Red Cross hosting volunteer information session
The American Red Cross Central Appalachia Region is currently in need of volunteers to continue its mission in various areas within the organization.
HSC network maintenance scheduled for Jan. 21
HSC Information Technology Services will complete maintenance on the HSC network on Saturday, Jan. 21, between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., affecting offices, labs and conference rooms located in the HSC Addition.
Support group for WVU students who are parents to begin bi-weekly meetings
Parenting can be challenging, and it can be uniquely difficult to navigate your role as a parent and student while enrolled in college. To provide support and an opportunity to connect with others who understand this balance, the WVU Carruth Center’s BeWell satellite office is offering a Student Parent Support Space beginning Jan. 23.
